Our story starts in high school, when we both faced the same problem: we loved our sports, but the cost of private coaching was way out of reach. We were juggling school, sports, and various extracurriculars, and the prices on personalized coaching just didn’t make sense. We each tried it a couple times, but it felt like the system was only built for families who could afford to pay hundreds of dollars a month. There was no in-between—either you had a coach, or you were on your own.
One day, after practice, we were talking about how frustrating it was that so many talented athletes were being held back by a lack of affordable coaching. That’s when we had an idea: why not create something better? We realized that the best advice we’d ever received didn’t come from high-priced coaches, but from older teammates who had already been through what we were going through.
That’s when the lightbulb went off. If we could create a platform where student-athletes could coach one another, we could bring that same kind of support to everyone. We wanted to build a place where young athletes could get affordable, personalized coaching from people who understood exactly what they were facing, because they had just been there. That’s how PeerCoach was made—a way to make sports coaching accessible to everyone, no matter their budget.
